Hi all,
I want to model a slice of the earth's crust under horizontal compression and look at the deformation that is occurring.
In the Model this is represented by a fluid body with high viscosity, where the left side and left half of the bottom move to the right, whereas the right side and right half of the bottom are fixed. The top boundary is open and a bulge should evolve in the middle.
How should I set this up? I want to see how the mesh deformed after the timestep, so chose ALE with a free Deformation and set the boundary conditions for the deforming boundaries to a Prescribed Mesh Velocity with u and v, respectively. So far I have been able to get a correct velocity field, but the mesh does not deform, i.e. material leaves the top boundary, but the mesh does not follow. I attached an example file so you can see how my setup is.
Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Thank you very much!
Matthias
